A Good Hangover Cure – What Remedy Works Fast?

A good hangover cure is the key difference between having a productive, reliably painless and even enjoyable day and having a grim, wasteful and useless day in bed with severe pain and nausea. So how do you get relief fast and even better, avoid medication that could be bad for your liver?

And how do you boost your body's natural ability to get rid of a hangover faster for the next time? These tips and techniques can help you.

1. Prevent hangovers using a vitamin kit

Preventing hangovers is much, much more effective than unfortunately trying to find a good hangover cure the next morning when you're already in severe pain and trying not to vomit. Did you know you could do this? As long as you do not do anything silly like binge drinking, mixing your drinks or gulping down too much low-grade alcohol, then this preventive remedy works around 9 times out of 10. How do you do it?

When you drink plenty of alcohol, your body is losing essential vitamins and minerals. Alcohol is a diuretic which means it causes you to expel liquid from your body at a faster rate than you would do normally. The trick is for you to replace these vitamins and minerals (known as electrolytes) as they leave your body.

How do you do this? You take a multivitamin pill right after drinking and before sleeping. A great hangover prevention pill is PreToxx for Hangovers, which has a slow release so it works through the night, while you sleep. PreToxx is specifically designed for preventing hangovers and I can recommend it.

The results? When you take a couple of these after drinking and before sleeping, you'll wake up more or less clear-headed. You will not feel perfect. Your body may still feel a bit tired. But your head should be clear and more alert, with no headache or nausea. You'll definitely feel much better than if you do not take the tablets. Remember to have a big glass of water with your vitamins too, to help to rehydrate your body.

2. Ibuprofen hangover remedy

Normally I 'd advise against taking painkillers to cure hangovers. I prefer to recommend only natural hangover remedies and nothing else. But I understand that some hangovers are just too severe and many people have to be active the next day. Some of you have to work and may have an important day. Others may just be in unbearable pain.

What do you do when you feel this way? First of all, never take painkillers right after drinking. Mixing medication with alcohol has health risks and your body may react badly to it. Only take painkillers if you wake up in severe pain and you need to get rid of your headache and nauseaa very fast.

You can take Ibuprofen to block the pain and reduce the nausea, while you recover from your hangover by drinking plenty of liquid and eating food such as eggs (beneficial to your liver) and toast (starch that raises your blood sugar level) with honey ( fructose that processes your hangover faster). It's also recommended to get some exercise (walking and fresh air) to improve blood circulation.

Most people report that Advil is highly effective. Regardless of which brand you choose, you can take your pills with flat cola, fruit juice or simply water.

3. Eggs and bacon

Food is a good hangover cure that works. Typically for the moderate level of hangover, food can bring you back to life by raising your blood sugar level, diluting the level of alcohol in your blood and helping your body metabolize the alcohol faster. The question is, which food?

Do not eat too much when you're hungover. You may feel starving, but eating plates of carbs and french fries can cause you to slip into a digestive meltdown. You'll feel slow, lethargic and not really much better than before. Ideally, you need eggs for their cysteine, which helps to clean up the toxins your body is processing (acetaldehyde).

You need some toast to provide the starch that will raise your blood sugar level and cause you to feel more energetic and less lethargic. You need bacon to provide you with amino acids that help your brain to function better. That's why toast, eggs and bacon is an excellent hangover remedy.

4. Drinks to help hangover recovery

Certain drinks are great for accelerating our recovery from a bad hangover. Whatever you've taken a painkiller to block your headache and nausea or not, drinks are your best way to rehydrate your body, process your hangover faster and flush out the alcohol.

Water on its own may help when you're badly hungover, but it's not quite enough. Ideally, you should knock back a big tomato juice with salt and pepper. This can be very effective at fixing a bad hangover in a short-term. Cola is fairly effective too, re-hydrating your body and raising your blood sugar level. Gatorade or its equivalent is an even better way to replace lost electrolytes and to boost your recovery rate fast.

5. Home remedies for hangovers

Why venture out into the street when the shops may be closed and when you feel as rough as a badger?
You may even have a good hangover cure at home, in your kitchen cupboard. Home remedies are not just food, drink and natural remedies around your house but they are also what you do with yourself.

Playing golf, taking a walk, taking deep breaths of fresh air, having sex, drinking tea with honey … any combination of these can help you beat a moderate hangover.

Hangover Cures To Avoid

Just like with anything, there are plenty of myths that circulate about curing hangovers. Having tested each and every one, I can confirm that none of these really work. Or if they do appear to work, they are pretty bad for your health.

Tylenol or Paracetamol

I've seen people claiming that taking Tylenol, or Paracetamol (also known as Acetaminophen) is a good hangover cure. Some people even have 2 x 500mg tablets right after drinking heavily.

Let me warn you that this is a huge mistake. Acetaminophen is broken down by the liver and adds an additional load on the liver. People who take too much of it in a short time can end up with liver damage.

Even the FDA report the liver damage that it can cause.

2. Coffee

Who claims that coffee cures hangovers has never really been hungover. Yes a strong espresso clears your head if you had a few drinks and went too bed late. But for real hangovers, coffee does not help at all.

It tightens your headache, appears to dehydrate you even more and finally, leaves you irritable and unable to get back to sleep. People who recommend that coffee fixes you up mean well, but they do not know what they're talking about.

3. Hair of the dog

I know hair of the dog as a hangover cure is fun when you're being a bit young and carefree. After all, I've done it myself before. Does it work? It appears to work for an hour or two. Then your hangover just hits in again, but slower and for longer.

Getting rid of a hangover is about processing it from your body faster than you would otherwise and replacing what you lost. It's not about giving it more of what makes it hurt. Avoid hair of the dog.

4. Not drinking to avoid hangovers

We've all heard this utter garbage from people claiming they know all about hangovers. “The only way to avoid a hangover is to abstain from drinking.”

The whole point in finding a good hangover cure is because you're a drinker. You like a drink. You go to parties, you relax with a drink. So if you're looking for a good hangover cure, the very last thing you want to hear is someone who thinks he knows it all telling you not to drink.

Someone recommending that you do not drink to avoid hangovers is the very last one you want to hear when you wake up hungover. You've already been drinking, so this advice is utterly pointless and useless.

Toxins in the Body: Is Your Home to Blame?

Everyday, millions of women suffer from ailments ranging from chronic fatigue to stress and allergies due to the buildup of toxins in their systems. Although millions of men suffer too, women are much more susceptible. It might be because of our smaller frames and higher percentage of body fat, or that we spend more time in the home than men do. The fact of the matter is: there are a number of common household items that could be causing you and your family to feel sick, tired and stressed.

Imagine for a moment, all of the cleaning products underneath your sink. Chances are you probably can not pronounce half of the chemicals listed on the labels. Unless you're a chemist, you certainly do not know what they are or the amount of the harm they can cause. Although you do know that touching, swallowing or getting them in your eyes is certainly not a good idea, has it ever occurred to you that you are also breathing them in?

Airborne chemicals inside the home account for a large part of why many Americans suffer from the effects of long term toxic buildup in their bodies. In fact, you could be breathing in 25 times as many VOC's as the highest dose that is safe for indoor levels.

Each time you spray cleanser, air freshener or any other product like these tiny particles fill the air. Even when used as directed, it is virtually impossible to breathe then these chemicals in. Chemicals found in aerosol sprays, detergents and even air fresheners could have made you sick without you even realizing it!

In fact, one of the largest culprits of such noxious brews is fragrances and air fresheners. According to the Oregon Toxics Alliance , “only about 1500 of the more than 5000 materials used in fragrances have been tested for safety.” These chemicals include formaldehyde, ethyl alcohol and even certain neurotoxins.

Although most of us may never relate any side effects to such chemicals when using these products accordingly, there are certain groups of people, such as women and small children, who tend to be more sensitive to their effects. These chemicals and many others found in common household products can have side effects ranging from chronic asthma, migraine headaches and fatigue. With so many of us using these products and others, it's no wonder we so often do not feel well in our own homes!

What does this have to do with detoxing?

Well, exposure to these chemicals over extended periods of time can cause them to build up in the body. In fact the more body fat you have, the more residual toxins your body is able to store. This is why women and children tend to be more susceptible to their effects. Allowing our bodies to be free from and heal from the exposure of these toxins in an integral part of performing a proper detox cleanse.

Imagine if you will, performing a detox cleanse to rid your body of pesticides and toxins found in the foods that you eat on a regular basis. Now, if you are breathing in the chemicals of many of these household cleansers, you really are not going to be much better off. In fact, you will be right back to square one!

So what is the solution?

What Is a Hangover?

What is a hangover is a popular question and the answer looks to vary, person to person. One way or another, there are a number of common variables that add up to hangover; types of beverages consumed, quantity consumed, duration of consumption, etc. Generally, over-indulgence in alcohol leads to a variety of symptoms, from cotton-mouth and pounding headaches, to soreness and nausea … the list goes on! So what is a hangover !? We'll break it down further in the following paragraphs.

Pick your poison! Whether its beer, wine or liquor, they all have the same common chemical; ethanol, generally referred to as alcohol. The issue with ethanol, is that as the body metabolized ethanol, a much more toxic chemical is produced: acetaldehyde. This awful toxin is nearly 10 times more toxic than ethanol and is even more difficult for the body to produce. In particular, acetaldehyde is processed by the liver. Several anti-oxidants are synthesized by the liver to help break down the elevated levels of toxins. For a while, the body can keep up, however, once consumption envelopes these anti-oxidants, acetaldehyde begin to accumulate. This accumulation is one answer to “what is a hangover?” The accumulation of acetaldehyde acts as an oxidative stress on the body, yielding many of the negative side effects we experience after drinking. (eg nausea, soreness, dehydration, etc.).

The second answer to “what is a hangover” is dehydration. After the sunset of what's often referred to as “breaking the seal,” frequent urination shortly follows. This is a direct consequence of consuming alcohol. Our bodies are designed to keep all of our systems in equilibrium and that includes our levels of hydration. In particular, our kidneys are responsible for maintaining hydration, balance of electrolytes, and nutrients. Ethanol effectively tricks, or confuses, receptors in the body signaling to the kidneys to purge all incoming fluids. The result is that the majority of the fluids consumed are excreted and our bodies do not absorb the appropriate levels of water or electrolytes. Subsequently, we experience many of the symptoms described before; headaches, aches, pains, and soreness. This is yet another answer to the question of “what is a hangover?”

Sleep Deprivation

Sleep deprivation is a result of both the chemical properties of alcohol as well as the social standards of drinking. Late night parties and beer bongs are not helping anyone! Regardless, alcohol itself is a culprit to sleep deprivation. Alcohol directly affects our quality of sleep. REM sleep is the deepest, most restful state of sleep that the body can achieve. Studies have shown that ethanol interrupts this REM sleep, thereby depriving our bodies from a deep resting state. Poor sleep has shown to have a number of negative effects on the body, such as tiredness, aching, and unclear thinking; yet another answer to the question of ” what is a hangover ?”

So, what is a hangover? From our discussion, we can see that it is a number of factors all providing varying results. Alcohol and the social activities that follow contribute to increased toxicity levels, dehydration, sleep deprivation, and nutrient depletion. When added up, we experience what is commonly referred to as a hangover. Although any one individual's experience may vary, the same drivers are present, yielding similar side effects to all who consume alcohol. Nonetheless, alcohol is a part of our culture and I do not see another prohibition taking place soon.

Natural Hangover Cures And Remedies That Work To Beat A Hangover

If you're like me you'll be wanting only the best natural hangover cures and remedies. A remedy that involves hangover medicine is not natural after all. Our ancestors' bodies were accustomed to natural plants and herbs to cure hangovers, so that's what we want to give ourselves.

Most natural hangover cures have to involve herbs and plants.

Without further ado, here are my top natural remedies for hippies with hangovers!

1. Vitamin with a drink

Rather than stuffing yourself with dangerous medication the next day, have water with vitamins the night before. Most times, you'll wake up feeling pretty good and far more awake. The best vitamins are soluble or effervescent ones that dissolve in water. But if you do not have these, than any decent multivitamin will do fine, as long as it's not too old!

A multivitamin is great because it can contain plenty of the right electrolytes (vitamin C, B6, magnesium, calcium) as well as herbs that detox your liver (silymarin, cysteine). Taking a couple of these before sleeping will generally help you wake up with a much clearer head.

2. Liquids

Whether you take them it's the night before or the morning after, liquids lighten up your path back to the real world. Given that dehydration is one of the main causes of hangovers, you should be hydrating yourself like crazy.

Which liquids are the best natural hangover cures? Water, vegetable and fruit juices blended down and gulped up by your dry mouth are the best. I could tell you to drink cola too, but you might not consider it natural. Either way, you can find here which drinks are the best remedies for hangovers.

3. Exercise

When I get hungover, I go to the gym or go for a brisk walk. It turns out to be a great natural hangover cure. Friends of mine play golf and find that it's a great welcome distraction from their hangover headache.

Whatever you decide to do, make it your goal to get your blood circulating around the body and to sweat out the alcohol as well.

The more you sweat, the better you'll feel. This can be a great remedy if you're reasonably healthy and able to exercise. If you're in bad shape, then it's not for you.

4. Hot bath or shower

Having a hot bath or shower relaxes your muscles, improves circulation and above all, causes you to sweat.
If you've had plenty of alcohol in the past 48 hours you'll sweat bucket loads. Many people say that alternating their shower temperature between hot and cold does the trick. If you feel too rancid to move far, then pour yourself a baking hot bath and feel the poison ooze from your pores.

5. Eggs and bacon on toast

Having eggs is a perfect remedy because they help to clean up the toxin that's making you feel terrible: acetaldehyde. Your body breaks down alcohol into acetaldehyde, which is far more painful than alcohol itself once circulating around your body. Any help in cleaning up the toxins is appreciated by your hungover body at this point.

Toast will raise your blood sugar level as you're most likely feeling weak and need this sugar kick. Avoid having too much toast though, as you'll feel bloated and may fall into a digestive meltdown afterwards. If you're not that keen on eggs or bacon to cure your hangover, then see which food cures hangovers fastest.

6. Fresh air

Maybe telling you to get fresh air is a little obvious but many of us forget it. If you slept with little air or the radiator on, it's likely that your head feels like a turnip by the time you wake up. It's really essential to get fresh oxygen in the room to help your body to recover from the battering it took the night before.

7. Hangover Tea with honey

Amazing honey can work wonders for you and your hangover. Especially if you add it to tea and mix some cinnamon in as well. This is the real deal home remedy natural hangover cure.

8. A head and neck massage

For certain types of hangover, massaging your head and neck will provide some needed relief to your suffering head and prove to be a great remedy. You need the blood to circulate better to tie pressure on your brain and around your eyes and temples.

9. Pickle juice or pickled onions

Surprisingly effective, a few pickles or some pickle juice pick you up and clear your head almost immediately. For a really bad hangover I would not rely on pickled expressions alone. But otherwise, they're great helping your head steer itself out of the clouds.

10. Sexual Activity

Most people know what I mean when I mention the hangover horn. This means waking up with a hangover with a real need for sex. It's pretty good really because it turns out that sex is one of the most effective natural hangover cures!

Sweating, flooding the brain with dopamine, exercise and orgasms almost always blast right through the worst of a bad hangover.

Antioxidants Protect You From Environmental Pollution – Antioxidants Especially Important Today

Antioxidants are especially important today, because of the high levels of chemicals and pollution we are exposed to. Environmental chemicals add to the creation of excess free radicals.

Another additional source of the creation of free radicals is exercise. Higher levels of oxygen from aerobic exercise improves your metabolism and is good for you. It is important to realize though, that high oxygen levels also create more free radicals. For this reason, it is especially important to consume enough antioxidants when vigorous exercise is included in any weight loss plan.

Reactive Oxygen Species, also called ROS, or more commonly called free radicals, are actually a natural and normal part of the process of digestion and metabolism. They are even useful as agents to burn up or oxidize bacteria, candida, and other viruses. They are only dangerous when the antioxidants which are needed to neutralize them, after they have completed their nasty jobs, are unavailable.

Healthy fresh fruits and vegetables, with plenty of antioxidant activity, should be a part of your daily diet. The fresh fruits and vegetables, balance these naturally occurring free radicals. The ROS can then do their job of burning up any nasty bugs hanging around, after which they are neutralized by the balance of antioxidants in the system.

When the free radicals can not be neutralized by antioxidants, they attract electrons from healthy cells, causing a chain of instability in all the cells.

If you are an exercise enthusiast, a very important detoxifier to remember is Lipoic Acid. Exercise produces lactic acid. Lipoic acid is a universal antioxidant that neutralizes excess buildup of lactic acid. Make yourself an antioxidant cocktail drink when you exercise which includes vitamin C, Lipoic acid, and Vitamin E. Vitamin E has the ability to help your body utilize Vitamin C better, therefore it is good to take both Vitamin C, and E at the same time.

Free radicals, when not neutralized, cause excessive aging as they eat away at healthy cells, causing degeneration of healthy cell function.

The damage from ROS is very widespread. They can damage enzymes which are needed to break down fats. These excessive fats can then cause heart disease, or digestive difficulties. Inefficient digestion may lead to nutrient deficiencies, which can lead to a multitude of other illnesses. And so the cycle begins.

These ROS free radicals can eat holes in the lining of the blood vessels. Damage to blood vessel linings, may then cause high cholesterol to form in the treaties in order to protect the damaged vessels. This may then lead to high blood pressure. ROS also forms protein composites in the brain called amyloids leading to Alzheimer's disease.

As you can see it is essential to get adequate amounts of antioxidants in your daily diet. These harmful reactive oxygen species can easily be neutralized with a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables. If you feel you may not be getting adequate antioxidants from your daily diet, it is easy to use supplements to boost your antioxidant intake.

Vitamin C and E, Alpha Lipoic acid, as well as super berries such as goji berries, noni fruit, and mangosteen can all be very helpful towards fighting excess free radicals.

Hangover Home Remedies – 4 Remedies That Help Your Headache, Fatigue And Nausea

You may wonder how hangover home remedies and natural cures for hangovers can be helpful. Quite simply because we've all been there. We've all woken up with a rotten stinking headache, feeling terrible with no real vitamin drinks, no alcohol detox and nothing to provide hangover relief when you so badly need it.

Or at least that's how it looks. Maybe we think there's nothing in the cupboard or the bed that we know of that helps a hangover? You may have the right ingredients there, you just need to know about it. The best hangover home remedies I can give is combining one, two or even three of these natural cures. For example, drinking fruit juice and eating a bacon and egg sandwich would counter several of your symptoms simultanously.

Here are my tried and tested top ten hangover home remedies that are useful when nothing seems to be there for you and you do not want to go outside because you're scared or it's cold.

1. Multivitamin before sleeping

Taking a couple of multivitamin pills before sleeping works wonders for preventing hangovers. Once you get into the habit of this, you'll see what this means for you. The best multivitamins contain all the essential electrolytes to replace all the nutrients you lose when drinking plenty of alcohol. Certain vitamins contain elements that can even help to detox your liver which means your body can better rid themselves of those nausea-inducing toxins that are produced when breaking down alcohol.

2. Pure Fruit Juice

Pure fruit juice will help put you back on track because it helps to resolve two of the hangover causes: dehydration and the lack of vitamins and minerals in your body. You lose lots of liquid as alcohol's a diuretic (which means it increases the rate at which your body expels liquid, which explains your visits to the restroom) and also because alcohol consumption depletes your body's natural reserves of vitamins and minerals.

Go for an organic fruit juice if you can; a combination of several different fruits such as cranberry, blueberry, kiwi, banana, mango, passion fruit. Orange and pineapple could be fine if you have already eaten, but avoid them on an empty stomach as they may be acidic. Juices are one of the easiest hangover home remedies, but you'll need food to go with them.

Most fruit juices will be rich in natural vitamins and minerals, picking you up nicely from your hungover state and replacing those that you lost the night before. Try to make your own fruit juice cocktail if you can, using fresh fruit in the blender, such as a banana and strawberry together.

You'll be the hero of the hungover group if you know how to make these hangover home remedies for your friends too!

3. Food hangover home remedies

Another cause of your hangover is when you have a low blood sugar level in your body, which will make you feel tired and a bit weak. Ever tried to lift weights after a big night out? Yes you're pathetic!

Having some simple, starch based food will help to heal your hungover state by boosting the sugar level in your blood and bringing back that 'human' feeling again. Eating starch based food will help you even more if part of the cause of your morning after headache is to do with you not eating enough the previous night, in which case you'll feel particularly slow and lacking in energy.

Many people report that eating brings them back to life after a heavy night. Obviously, on occasions, your hangover will be too severe to eat anything, in which case I can recommend either staying in bed and sleeping or drinking water, combined with other hangover home remedies such as exercising or taking a hot bath.

4. Exercise and fresh air

I know people who 'll go straight out for a run, a bike ride or a hard hour in the gym after a heavy night out. The benefits? Your body sweats out the alcohol very fast, even though it may be tough going while on your bike or treadmill, you'll feel far better afterwards.

Exercise is one of the best hangover home remedies. The only drawback is that a bad headache from drinking hangover-inducing drinks, such as rum, tequila, low quality red wine or brandy may still stay, even after sweating out lots of alcohol. In this case you may need to try rehydrating yourself more by drinking plenty of liquids and eating recommended food.

Please take care though. I do not necessarily recommend you doing excessively vigorous exercise when feeling hungover, I just say it works for some people. Maybe it's too much for you, depending on your state and your natural fitness levels. This technique is more used by people who already do sport and are in reliably good shape.

Other people prefer a brisk walk where the air is fresh or perhaps a game of golf which has the added benefit of distracting you by the game you are playing. Fresh air is far better for you – we all know how a hangover can appear to be less severe in the countryside.

Why Detoxing Is Important

We live in a society where we are exposed to many toxins, pollutants and free radicals that affect the way our bodies function effectively. Foods we eat and the environment we live in play a huge role in the buildup of toxins in our bodies. This is where the importance of detoxification comes in. It is meant to give your body, organs, glands and nervous system a break from constantly digesting and worrying about food. It is meant to purify the body and mind for physical and emotional garbage to move out. Finally, it is meant for the rejuvenation you feel after one.

Now I know most people think that they can eat whatever they want and then “detox, cleanse, or take a laxative” and that will fix everything. This is actually the worst approach because it just stresses the body more and does the reverse of detoxing the body.

There needs to be a structural approach to slowly and effectively “recharge or restart” your metabolism, and cleaning the insides of your body in a healthy way. Seeing an expert regarding this is ideal before taking on such a harsh change, but once you have felt the revamp you will never be the same and will have surprised why you never learned of this sooner.

As a nutritionist, it is important to monitor that people do not overdo the entire “cleanse” mentality but add it to their fall and spring cleaning. Sometimes my clients may do a detox or gentle cleanse with each change in season, but ideally two or three are good a year.

My personal advice would be to do two really good detoxes a year and then do mini clean up sessions through the year. Always check with a specialist when starting any cleanse because there may be some symptoms you may feel while you're removing all the gunk that has been built up for who knows how long. Some people may feel really low in energy or not well at all while detoxing, and others may be reawakened with energy right away. It may be easier to follow a detox program and maintenance program afterwards because they “recharged” quicker than others. Every client may have very different experiences doing a detox but the end result is still the same; a cleaner and healthier YOU.

My last tip to detoxing is that you should book off the week for yourself or if you can not then extra blocks of time for “pampering” yourself during this time. You want to surround yourself with a great support team to go through it with you so that you can get all the help and guidance you need. From my past experience, I have always gotten a few friends to do one with me so we can encourage or complain about the week of cleaning. Every experience may be different from the next and you need to take this as a personal assessment to check your progress for the rest of the year and see what need to be “tuned up”.

Good Luck.

Juice Fasting: How to Begin Your First Detox Diet

One of the simplest and most effective ways to begin losing weight and detoxifying your body is to begin with a juice fast. Or, as I like to call them, a juice feast!

If you've ever tried a raw food diet, or heard of people doing so, you are probably somewhat familiar with juice fasting. People who eat a primarily raw food diet often times also include juice fasting as part of their regimen for keeping a healthy lifestyle. However, you do not need to be a raw foodist to reap the benefits of even a short juice fast.

Contrary to the way some diets work, a juice fast will have you drinking around 32 to 48 ounces of juice per day along with water. Your body certainly will not be starving … Yet, many people report losing 1-2 pounds per day on while doing a juice detox diet!

If your eating habits are less than spectacular, a juice fast will be a great opportunity to allow your body to soak in some excellent nutrition. Almost anything can be juiced, but raw fruits and vegetables are ideal. By varying the types of fruits and vegetables you juice you'll be able to blast your body with plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that it may not be getting on a normal basis.

Fruit and vegetable juices are good sources of nutrients like iron, copper, potassium, sodium, iodine, and magnesium. However, it is also suggested that you try to incorporate as many leafy green vegetables as you can into your juicing regimen, as well. Dark, leafy greens contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, protein and chlorophyll. There are a number of great recipes available that contain greens and veggies along with fruit that taste surprisingly good.

Another type of juice that many people incorporated into their juice fast is wheat grass. Wheat grass juice has been getting a lot of attention due to of howense in nutrients it is. The primary advantage of truly fresh wheat grass juice, is the high level of life force energy that it contains. The grass growing right up to the time it is juiced, which makes it one of the freshest juices that you can drink.

With so many wonderful and healthy ingredients to choose from, you'll want to make sure you are getting the freshest, purest juice you can find. Therefore, you will need to invest in a good juicer. Not only will having your own juicer provide you with a healthier and more satisfying experience but, it will save you money in the long run and provide you with greater control of what you are putting into your body.

Green Poop And The Causes

Green Poop or Green Stool is a condition in which the feces appear with a greenish tint or green color. It may be normal in breastfeeding-feeding infants. But among adults it may not be normal and hence need some investigation. It could have the result of iron supplements taken or eating green leafy vegetables such as spinach. They can also be caused by medical problems, in which case we need to take a closer look. No, not at the poop, but at the problem!

One of the causes of green poop is the food we eat. Vegetables such as broccoli, spinach are rich in chlorophyll, the green pigment found in plants and iron. Absorption of these depends on your iron content in the body and is not absorb if not needed. This is a simple case of excess supply when the demand is lean and hence the colored matter goes out unabsorbed. It becomes worse if you are already taking iron supplements for some other medical problem. Often, green, blue or purple artificial colors used in foodstuff could be the cause. Cool aid, popsicles, dyes in ice cream are some examples.

Among medical conditions triggering formation of green poop, the predominant one is stomach disorders. Bile, the yellowish green secret by the liver gets stored in gall bladder. From here it is regulated and fed to the intestines. When the flow is too fast for effective utilization for digestive process, excess may get into faces colouring it greenish. Other medical conditions such as abdominal pain, stomach cramps, bowel disorders, diarrhoea, gas or indigestion, flu-like symptoms, rectal problems etc are some examples. When you or anyone in your family or a close friend has some of the following, there are chances that the stool may be green and medical aid is called for:

1 Change in consciousness level or alertness
2 Dizziness
3 High fever (more than 101 degrees F)
4 Rectal bleeding
5 Not producing urine
6 Rapid heart rate and / or breathing
7 Respiratory problems such as shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing
8 Rigid board-like abdomen
9 Sudden weakness.

The treatment for green stool is directly dependent on what is the cause. If the cause is food related, the best way is to control it by changes in dietary habits. If the problem lies in other sources such as iron tablets intake etc., your doctor can advise and revise the dosage or suggest supplements along with iron. For other problems associated with digestive system, your doctor only can take appropriate measures after due clinical studies. Other diseases discussed above invariably need medical attention. Once the problem is attended the green stool, which is only nature warning you, will also vanish. Flatulence or gas formation in the intestines at times associated with green stool, which need to be valued depending on whether it is due to bacterial action or not. There are some herbal and nature therapy aids, which may be attempted if the cause for green stool is known to you, like food induced or iron induced. In any case self medication is not to be attempted when the cause is not clear to you.

The Importance of Detoxifying the Human Body

A body toxin may be defined as any substance that is potentially injurious, destructive, or fatal to human health. Some toxins come from dietary or environmental sources, some are manufactured within the body, and all toxins are potentially harmful because they are part of the process of developing illness and disease.

The human body contains a natural detoxifying system. Normally, toxins are processed through the liver, kidneys, and lower intestines. These organs either convert toxins to a more benign substance or they excrete them out of the body in order to prevent damage to other, more elaborate organisms like the heart and stomach. However, the natural process of detoxification is not always adequate to handle the amount of toxins that are introduced into the body through the diet and the environment. Sometimes additional attention, and help, is needed to reduce the introduction of toxins into the body and to remove undesired toxins already in the body.

If your diet includes a high level of fat or sugar, if you drink coffee or alcohol, smoke cigarettes, take any drugs or medicines, or are exposed to harmful environmental chemicals from any source, you may wish to consider healthy ways to detoxify your body . Symptoms that indicate an accumulation of toxins include fatigue, irritability, skin problems, digestive difficulties, aches and pains, and constipation. Sometimes these symptoms can indicate a more serious medical problem so it may be a good idea to consult with your doctor.

Many people have found that dietary changes, colon cleanses, saunas, or taking vitamins, herbs and other supplements can be effective ways to detoxify the body. Most detoxification programs include drinking lots of water or juice. Drinking herbal teas is another cost-effective way to aid in purifying the body. Many herbs contain powerful antioxidants, which are substances that protect against cell damage.

Researchers from the US Department of Agriculture have found that herbs such as oregano, dill, thyme, rosemary and peppermint contain more antioxidants than fruits and vegetables. The Chinese have been using herbs such as ginseng, Huang Qi, and angelica root (Dong Quai) for thousands of years to detoxify the body and balance the body's energy so that it is able to heal itself.

The goals of detoxification are to improve immune functions, purify blood and reduce the amount of toxins in the body to reduce the burden on the body's organs. People who have gone through a detoxification process have noticed many different benefits. A few of these include: improved energy, stress relief, improved skin health, reduced headaches and other aches and pains.

To begin your own detox program, make sure you do your research and find a time-proven detox program that is gentle on the body's system. Try to talk to other people who have gone through the detox program and hear what their experience was and what benefits they have gained.

Do You Know Why A Juice Extractor Is Very Important For Your Liver?

You may not drink any sort of alcohol and being tee-total your liver will not be adversely affected by it, but that does not mean that your liver is safe. The modern world has so many artificial elements, chemicals and toxins that even without alcohol our livers are still at risk without we take good care of them. Natural fluids are really beneficial for our health and for the proper functioning of our livers, therefore drinking fresh fruit juice every day is really important.

There are different kinds of juice extractors out there that help you ensure that you get the best quality juice out of the fruits of your choice. Let us try to decipher why fresh juice from such juice extractors is necessary for a healthy liver.

One of the most harmful things within our own body is the presence of some free radical elements, created by a combination of the external toxins and internal body material. In the absence of anti oxidants, these free radicals can move about freely through the body and cause irreversible harm to it.

Do not be amused by their name because they actually have like vandals in modern society who get high by destroying things and tear them apart. Within the body they can cause cancer by causing the bad kind of mutation within the cells and also heart disease by accumulating near the arteries there.

Fruits contain anti-oxidants, which can negate the effect of these free radicals and render them harmless. So it is important to use a juice extractor that does not produce too much heat while extracting juice. Heat can kill these anti-oxidants. With respect to the human liver, one of the most beneficial anti-oxidants out there is Vitamin C. It is one of mankind's best options against most toxins that get accumulated in the body and by attacking those toxins it indirectly hits the formation of these free radicals.

One of the major causes of liver cancer in humans is the constant radical activity that leads to the formation of more toxins. Most people are not interested in the big words doctors and nutritionists say but this is very simple – fresh juice provides anti-oxidants; anti-oxidants fight toxins; no toxins means no free radicals in the body which in turn means that there is less chance of liver failure on cancer. Some of the best sources of vitamin C are apples and blackberries.

Fresh juice extracts can also help in improving the immune system of the liver and the body as a whole. The fibers in the liver often go through a lot of abuse due to the constant exposure to spicy food, chemical compounds like monosodium glutamate that are found in junk food and heavy alcohol consumption. To counter this, it is advisable to drink fresh juice regularly. The Beta Carotene in it acts on the affected fibers and helps to rejuvenate them, thus improving the immunity of the body and enhancing the regenerative power in the liver.

Juice Recipes For Safe And Effective Fasting

This article reviews everything you need to know for a short or extended juice fast including benefits, provisions, preparation, and essential juice recipes. Juice fasts are increasingly popular for cleansing the body of harmful additives we consume through our standard American “junk food” diet. Juice fasts are also popular as a means of losing weight and fighting disease.

Proponents of juice fast explain that unhealthy substances in packaged and processed foods build up in the body. The best way, and some even excuse the only way to rid your body of these toxic chemicals is through a juice fast.

However, many medical experts believe that drinking nothing but juice for an extended period of time is not only unnecessary, but dangerous. They point to the fact that the body has very powerful eliminative systems and that does not need to cleanse itself with a diet of any kind.

Some experts concede that given the increasing prevalence of processed foods, the decreasing nutritional content of our mass-produced crops, and our habits of overeating, additional nutrients and some type of support for our digestive and elimination systems may help, such as an occasional fast . Drinking a freshly juiced drink in the morning and not eating anything until lunch or dinner on occasion may help your system concentrate on healing instead of digestion.

Caution. First of all, be careful of dehydration, exhaustion, and weakness. For many people, a prolonged juice fast causes low blood sugar levels, which leaves them tired and weak. And even though you're drinking juice, you may not be getting enough fluids. Symptoms of dehydration include a dry mouth, excessive tiredness, thirst, headaches, dizziness, and mental confusion.

Most importantly for anyone trying to lose weight with a juice diet, take care to be sure you are getting all the nutrients your body needs or you will actually see the opposite results – weight gain! Here's why.

Whenever you decrease your intake of nutrients, a complex process begins incorporating the slowing down of your metabolism and the release of special hormones. If you starve yourself of particular nutrients your body will begin to store instead of burn whatever food you consume, resulting in weight gain. Drinking special combinations of juiced fruits and vegetables while fasting as listed below will cleanse the body without lowering your metabolism.

Another important precaution is knowing that an extended juice fast can affect your emotional health. Some people experience depression as their blood sugar plummets. Restrictive diets may actually lead to chronic dieting and even life-threatening eating disorders. If you're seriously thinking of an extended fast of any amount of time longer than one day a month, I recommend consulting your physician first just to be sure that a condition you may have is not aggravated by or a hindrance to fasting. Or start with a supervised weekend juice fast at a local spa.

Preparation. If you're serious about fasting, prepare yourself starting about five days before you begin. Slowly make the change from solid foods to liquids by slowly reducing grains, dairy foods, and meat. Eat more cooked vegetables, salads, fruits, and juices. By day 3 eat only raw salads, fruits, and juices. By day 4 narrow your food choices a bit more by replacing breakfast with juice.

Benefits. If you've chosen a fast reflecting 2 or more days, your body undergoes changes. The largest change affects your system's pH balance – changing from acidic to alkaline which is particularly beneficial since disease is more comfortable in an acidic body.

Your stomach contracts and as your digestive tract is cleansing, you'll experience near miraculous weight loss. But this loss, keep in mind, is also ridding your body of vitamins, minerals, and up to 75 grams of protein a day. So be sure your juice recipes are nutrient rich – I list several of the very best below.

Along with weight loss, prepare yourself for hunger pangs, headaches, and light-headedness. And you'll be urinating – in surprising amounts.

If you decide to fast for a longer period of time such as four to seven days, your liver undergoes changes as well. It starts to excrete toxins and chemicals from your body. This activity may make you nauseous, tired, and nervous. Some individuals even report shortness of breath. Other symptoms may include bad breath, diarrhea, skin blemishes, and body odor.

If you embark on a fast of two weeks or longer, expect another set of symptoms to emerge involving the elimination of blood toxins. Experts claim that during such fasts the cleansing of deep tissues and organs occurs resulting in a full range of emotions from stressed and irritated to euphoric. Many medical experts claim these emotional responses have absolutely nothing to do with the cleaning process, and are related to starvation.

Ending Your Fast. Just as you prepared your system for fasting, you need to warn your body that things will soon return to normal. Resist the temptation to eat large quantities of food. Slowly return to normal eating habits. This reduces stomach aches, indigestion, and diarrhea. Not only that, but it also ensures you're not over-stressing your organs, especially the liver, heart, and lungs.

To activate your digestive system, it's vital to follow a few simple rules when you begin to eat solid foods again. Sit down while you eat. This encourages proper digestion. Eat very small portions, and allow your stomach to get accustomed to food again. Most people who break a fast discover that it's best to tackle it in three distinct stages.

Stage 1 should last approximately twice the number of days you were on the fast. The aim is to stimulate your stomach by eating only soft foods with high water content, such as light soups, fruit smoothies, and ground up almonds, sesame, or sunflower seeds.

When your body is ready to eat solid foods again, begin with juicing fruits such as watermelon, cantaloupes, oranges, apples and pears. Once you're eating these, try a few heavier fruits and vegetables such as cucumbers, peaches, apricots, and green bell peppers. Next – you are still in stage 1 – consume soups with vegetables or potatoes.

Stage 2 may last a day if you've performed a short fast, or up to five days for longer periods of not eating. Reintroduce your body to dry salads. If these sit well with you, add some dressing, but keep it simple. Most juicing experts suggest topping off the salads with olive oil and lemon, avocado, or tofu. In this stage, eat small quantities of nuts and seeds ground in salad dressings, juices, and even smoothies. Be sure to include thicker soups now. And do not hesitate to increase the amount of vegetables you're consuming.

Several foods you should avoid in this stage include: grains, beans, meat, and dairy products.

Stage 3 may last for only a day. If you've fasted for longer periods such as 10 days, this phase may last as long as five days. You can now reintroduce steamed vegetables, baked potatoes, and rice. Try eating cereal, grains, and exports. See how they sit in your stomach. Reintroduce your stomach to dairy products and some meat. Listen carefully to what your body is telling you. If it does not feel quite right, go slower. Do not force it. Avoid fried foods, high-fat cheeses, products with added sugar, and packaged and prepared foods

Bowtrol Colon Cleanse – What Can It Do For You?

More and more people are discovering the advantages of using a colon cleansing supplement such as Bowtrol Colon Cleanse. An increasing number of us are suffering from digestive problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, constipation, diarrhea, bloating and abdominal pain. This is because our modern lifestyle is having an impact on our digestion; we are eating more fried and processed foods and tend to grab a meal on the run rather than sit down to digest it properly. Our digestive systems are under more pressure than they have ever been at any stage of our evolutionary history and it's likely to get even worse. No wonder people are turning to supplements to regulate their digestion and improve colon health.

How Bowtrol Colon Cleanse Works
Bowtrol Colon Cleanse works by using effective internal cleansing to promote healthy bowel movements while eliminating painful cramping and diarrhea. It also assists in cleaning the vital organs and lymphatic system. Bowtrol can safely relieve constipation and also promote increased energy and weight loss. Because it is a natural product, it will not cause the side effects experienced by using prescription drugs.

The natural ingredients used include;

  • Cascara Sagrada; This is a very mild and effective natural herbal laxative.
  • Turkey Rhubarb; This has powerful properties as an intestinal cleanser and also reduces occasional constipation.
  • Bentonite clay; This is a purely ingested clay that absorbs water to form a gel and so works as a mild laxative and regulatory agent.
  • Slippery Elm; This soothes the digestive system and works as a detoxifier. It also calms the mucus membranes, stomach and intestines.

Bowtrol also contains a range of other natural substances known to promote digestive health, sooth the lining of the digestive tract and regulate bowel movements.

Probiotics and Their Role in Healthy Digestion
One reason why Bowtrol Cleanse is different from other bowel products is that it contains added probiotics. Probiotics are “friendly” bacteria naturally found in the gut which promote healthy digestion. Bowtrol contains nine Billion live probiotic cells, which is more than five times the live active cultures typically found in yogurt but without the added sugar, fat and calories yogurt typically contains.

Probiotics aid the digestive process which results in improved immune system health.

The Added Benefit of Weight Loss
Colon cleansing works by flushing out build ups of toxic waste from the bowel and regulating healthy digestion. A natural by product of this is weight loss as the body is able to process food and excrete waste products more effectively. The bloated feeling caused by trapped wind is also eliminated.
